Brown Trout

Chilean Browns are like the velociraptor of the  aquatic world. They lie and wait feverishsly, to pounce on and devour prey that is foolish enough to fall with in striking distance of these relentless predators. Unsuspecting young trout and salmon casually migrating though  what seem to be the quietest and safest waters, are quickly devoured, as are the numerous aquatic and terrestrial insects that inhabit these waters.

Brown Trout are very opportunistic feeders who's attention is quickly swayed from tiny nymphs and larvae that inhabit the river bottom, to large protein rich meals such as the giant Dragonflies, stag beetles, and grasshoppers make up a substantial part of these fish annual diet.! Theres nothing more exciting than a giant brown trout blowing up on huge surface patterns.

What makes fishing for Browns so exciting is the  variety of fishing different fishing opportunities  one is presented with in a typical day. One minute you are casting a number 14 parachute adams to free rising fish on glass like water and the next you are skating a a foam beetle under over hanging brush.

Anyone that knows Brown trout know that if you are going to move the biggest fish in the pool, you had better have a large delectible meal to offer him. Anglers that aren't afraid to put on a sink tip and a weighted  fly are mor often than not, rewarded with the biggest fish of the  week at RPL.
